A Web Form is a public web form published from a workspace template. Save a template, place at least one field, publish at /desk/forms#publish, then share /form/SLUG from /desk/forms/:id#share. Inkpacket generates the slug from the title — you do not pick it. That is slug-generation honesty: there is no slug field on publish, Settings will not “reserve a short URL,” and opening Billing will not sell a custom path.
The three-click save is publish a Web Form from a template. Closed copy after disable is public form closed copy. Operating the live link is operating a Web Form share link. Desk help is Docs. This guide is why you cannot type intake or hr-2026 into the path, and why a second publish is a second URL.
The FAQ and Web Forms on Features share /form/SLUG. Ask Inkpacket for why you cannot pick a Web Form slug to open this article. Ask how Web Forms work to open help. Those phrases stay on the product screens. This article is the public version of Inkpacket generates the slug from the title — you do not pick it — the string help already uses next to publish.
What the title becomes
- Publish reads the title and builds the slug. You share whatever path Inkpacket minted.
- A second publish is a second slug. People who bookmarked the first URL will not follow you there.
- Disable keeps the slug and shows Form closed. That is not a rename.
- Delete removes the form row. Publishing again from the same title can mint a new path — tell people the new link.
Free includes 1 published Web Form. A second live slug on Free returns a published-form 402 — not ENVELOPE_LIMIT, not a slug-picker unlock. Starter allows 3 published Web Forms. Extra slugs are what Starter grants, not a custom-path editor. Each fill is a sent envelope and counts toward the monthly cap. Free allows 5 packets a month. Generating the slug is not a fill. Changing the title after publish does not retarget the old bookmark. There is no “detach and keep the slug.”
What this is not
- Not HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT. That is the monthly send cap on a fill or desk send.
- Not the published-form 402. That 402 is a second live form on Free. This guide is “you never typed the path.”
- Not zero-field-publish. A template with fields still gets a generated slug.
- Not checkout. Billing is not open. Paying a listed price does not open a slug field.
The filler does not sign in. They enter required text, date, checkbox, and select fields plus name and email. Signature and initials wait for the signing page. If Resend is not configured the fill still succeeds and the page says The invite email was not sent. Use the signing link below. Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Drive archive waits for completed. Stripe off: Payments not live. None of those flags let you pick the path.
The click-path
- Save a template with at least one field. Open Web Forms. Publish. Copy the generated /form/SLUG.
- If you wanted a different path, change the title and publish a new form. Tell people the new link.
- If you only needed to stop fills, disable. The slug stays. Form closed is the public copy.
- If Free refuses a second publish, that is the published-form 402. Disable the first form or stay on one slug.
- On a phone, Web Forms is a drawer row. There is still no slug field. Help is not a drawer row — it stays in the header.
A template with zero fields cannot publish — why a template with zero fields cannot publish. The two 402s are Free published Web Form 402 versus envelope limit. Ask Inkpacket for why you cannot pick a Web Form slug to open this article. Ask how Web Forms work to open help. Ask create a web form to open Web Forms.
Ask and the path
Ask Inkpacket for why you cannot pick a Web Form slug to open this article. Ask how Web Forms work to open help. Marketing Ask stays site Q&A and deep links. It will not mint a custom slug, rename a live path, or publish a form from this article. The title becomes the path. Share that URL.
Caps and what is not open yet
Generating the slug is not a send. A fill is. Free allows 5 packets a month. Free at 5 packets a month is the live cap desk send, bulk rows, Web Form fills, and API send share. Hitting it returns HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT. Starter is 20 envelopes — more than Free — plus 3 published Web Forms. Seat counts are planning numbers; invite does not refuse when a workspace is full.
Billing is published, not charging. Checkout is not open. Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Drive missing: Drive not configured. Stripe off: Payments not live. Those flags do not open a slug field or rehome a bookmark. The FAQ and More on Web Forms use Inkpacket generates the slug from the title — you do not pick it in the same words.
Publish. Copy the path Inkpacket minted. Tell people that URL. Open a workspace on Free — see published pricing — and look for a slug box that is not there so slug-generation honesty is a generated /form/SLUG you already copied, not a Settings hunt for a rename that does not exist.
