Public form closed copy
Disable an Inkpacket Web Form and the public page says Form closed — This Web Form is no longer accepting submissions. Existing envelopes stay. That closed-copy honesty is not a void.
Closing a Web Form is how you stop new fills without deleting the slug. Disable the form on the desk. The public page then says Form closed and This Web Form is no longer accepting submissions. Submit against an unpublished slug returns This Web Form is not accepting submissions. Existing envelopes stay on the desk. Closing does not void them. That is closed-copy honesty: the page tells the stranger to stop, and the envelopes they already created keep their audit.
Publishing the slug is publish a Web Form from a template. Weekly operations after that are operating a Web Form share link. Intake when you lack emails is Web Form intake when you lack emails. Desk help is Docs. This guide is the closed page: the two sentences, what they are not, and why a second publish is the expensive way to pause.
The two sentences
- Form closed / no longer accepting submissions — you disabled a form that used to be live.
- Not accepting submissions — the slug is unpublished or was never public.
- Existing envelopes stay. Closing does not void them.
- Re-enable if the same slug should take fills again.
The filler does not sign in. They never see the desk. After you close the form they also do not start an envelope. Preview traffic on an open slug is not an envelope; submit is. A closed page cannot submit. Do not treat a closed-page view as a missed send you must recreate.
Do not void the fills
Envelopes already created from that slug keep their status. If a signer still has a link, they can finish — unless you void that envelope on purpose. Closing the form is not envelope admin. Void, correct, and resend still sit on each document. When to void, correct, or resend stays on the envelope id. One decline still closes that envelope only, not the other fills from the same slug.
Why not a second publish
Publishing a second form to “pause” the first spends a published-form slot you may not have. Free includes 1 published Web Form. Starter allows 3, Growth 10, Agency 25. Hitting the published-form cap returns HTTP 402 and names the plan limit. Billing checkout is not open, so this workspace stays on Free — disable the form you have, or see Pricing.
Inkpacket generates the slug from the title — you do not pick it. A second publish is a second slug. People who bookmarked the first URL will hit the closed page, not your new one, unless you told them. Re-enable the original when the cohort should open again.
The click-path
- Open the form at /desk/forms/:id. Disable it.
- Open /form/SLUG in a private window. Read Form closed.
- Leave existing envelopes alone unless a specific envelope should stop.
- Re-enable the same form if the same slug should take fills again.
- Do not publish a second form just to hide the first.
Ask Inkpacket for form closed or not accepting submissions to open help. Those phrases stay on the product screen. This article is the public version of the closed page.
PIN and mail still belong to fills that exist
An optional access code, reminder days, and expiration are set when you publish. Envelopes already created keep the days they were born with. The PIN uses the same five-try, 15-minute lockout as an envelope access code. Closing the form does not unlock a lockout and does not email anyone. If Resend is missing, a fill that already succeeded still says The invite email was not sent. Use the signing link below. Copy that link from the envelope, not from the closed slug.
Text-message (SMS) is coming soon, and the form sends the signing invite by email today. Drive archive still waits for a completed envelope — the closed slug writes nothing to a folder.
Caps and what is not open yet
Disable is not a send. A fill that already went out already counted. Free allows 5 packets a month. Free at 5 packets a month is the live cap this fill shares with desk send, bulk rows, and API send. Hitting it returns HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT. Starter is 20 envelopes — more than Free — plus 3 published Web Forms. Seat counts are planning numbers; invite does not refuse when a workspace is full.
Billing is published, not charging. Checkout is not open. Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Drive missing: Drive not configured. Stripe off: Payments not live. Those flags do not reopen a disabled form. The FAQ and Web Forms on Features use Form closed in the same words.
Disable when the cohort is done. Leave the envelopes on the desk. Re-enable the same slug if intake should start again. Then file each completed fill from its envelope — the public page was only the door. Open a workspace on Free — see published pricing — publish one throwaway form, disable it, and read the closed page so the copy is familiar before a real role depends on it.
