Web Form Free published-form cap

Free includes 1 published Inkpacket Web Form. A second publish returns HTTP 402 and names the plan limit — not ENVELOPE_LIMIT. Disable one, or stay on Free while checkout is not open. That is published-form-cap honesty.

Free includes 1 published Web Form. Starter allows 3, Growth 10, Agency 25. Hitting the published-form cap returns HTTP 402 and names the plan limit. The free-plan sentence is The free plan allows 1 published Web Form. Disable one, or see Pricing. Billing checkout is not open, so this workspace stays on Free. That is published-form-cap honesty: a second live slug is a plan gate, not a missing feature and not the monthly envelope counter.

Publishing the first slug is publish a Web Form from a template. Weekly operations after that are operating a Web Form share link. Closing the page without spending a second slot is public form closed copy. The lane math is Free vs Starter envelope math. Desk help is Docs. This guide is the 402 on publish.

Pricing lists the same ladder. Starter grants extra published forms and more monthly envelopes than Free. Starter is 20 envelopes — more than Free. Checkout is not open, so you cannot buy the second slug today. Disable the form you have, or wait. Ask Inkpacket for how to publish a Web Form to open the desk. This article is the cap, not a promise that charging is on.

Two different 402s

  • Published-form cap — HTTP 402 on publish when you already have the plan’s live slugs.
  • ENVELOPE_LIMIT — HTTP 402 on send, a bulk row, a Web Form fill, or API send when the month is spent.
  • A fill on the one Free form still counts as a sent envelope.
  • Disable is not a send. Re-enable is not a send. Publish is not a send.

Do not read the publish 402 as “you are out of envelopes.” You may have 40 sends left and still be blocked from a second slug. Do not read an ENVELOPE_LIMIT 402 on a fill as “publish another form.” The fill failed because the month is spent. The slug can stay live. Preview traffic on an open slug is not an envelope; submit is.

Disable, not a second slug

Disable the form you no longer need. The public page then says Form closed and This Web Form is no longer accepting submissions. Existing envelopes stay. Closing does not void them. Re-enable if the same slug should take fills again. Publishing a second form to “pause” the first spends a published-form slot you do not have on Free. Inkpacket generates the slug from the title — you do not pick it. A second publish is a second URL. People who bookmarked the first one will not follow you there.

The 402 body tells you to disable one or see Pricing. It also says billing checkout is not open, so this workspace stays on Free. Opening Billing does not move you to Starter. Do not mint a second workspace to dodge the cap — that is a second tenant, not a second slot.

What Starter would buy

Starter’s three published forms are the reason that lane exists. They are not extra envelopes beyond Starter’s 20. If you need a second and third public slug and you send fewer than twenty envelopes a month, the math can still favor Starter — once checkout is real. Until then plan around one live slug and 5 real sends. Choosing a plan: Free vs paid lanes is that chooser.

Each fill still shares the monthly envelope counter with desk send, bulk rows, and API send. Free at 5 packets a month is the live cap. Hitting it returns HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT — a different code path from the publish gate. Access-code 429 on a Web Form PIN is a lockout, not either 402.

The click-path

  1. Save a template with at least one field. Publish at /desk/forms#publish.
  2. If publish returns HTTP 402 and names the plan limit, disable a live form first.
  3. Do not publish a twin slug to hide the first. Close the first instead.
  4. Do not open checkout expecting a second slot. The portal is not open.
  5. Share /form/SLUG from /desk/forms/:id#share. Each fill is an envelope.

Ask Inkpacket for form closed when you meant to stop fills. Ask how Web Forms work for the help section. Those phrases stay on the product screens. This article is the public version of the publish gate.

PIN, mail, and SMS still belong to fills

An optional access code, reminder days, and expiration are set when you publish. The PIN uses the same five-try, 15-minute lockout as an envelope access code. The published-form 402 does not unlock a lockout and does not email anyone. If Resend is missing, a fill that succeeded still says The invite email was not sent. Use the signing link below. Text-message (SMS) is coming soon, and the form sends the signing invite by email today.

Caps and what is not open yet

Publish is not a send. A fill that goes out counts. Free allows 5 packets a month. Free at 5 packets a month is the live cap this fill shares with desk send, bulk rows, and API send. Hitting it returns HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT. Starter is 20 envelopes — more than Free — plus 3 published Web Forms. Seat counts are planning numbers; invite does not refuse when a workspace is full.

Billing is published, not charging. Checkout is not open. Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Drive missing: Drive not configured. Stripe off: Payments not live. Those flags do not grant a second Free slug. The FAQ and Web Forms on Features use one published form and HTTP 402 in the same words.

Publish one form. Disable it when the cohort is done. Do not treat a second 402 as an envelope problem. Then file each completed fill from its envelope — the slug was only the door. Open a workspace on Free — see published pricing — and read the publish error on a throwaway second form so the sentence is familiar before a real role depends on two slugs.
