Web Form disable versus delete

Inkpacket Web Forms have Disable form and Publish again. There is no delete control. The slug stays. Existing envelopes stay. That is disable-versus-delete honesty.

The manage card on a Web Form is Disable form when the slug is live, and Publish again when it is not. The banner says This Web Form is disabled. The public link no longer accepts fills. There is no delete button on that card. Disable form turns the public link off, and Publish again turns it back on. The slug stays. Existing envelopes stay. Re-enable if the same URL should take fills again. That is disable-versus-delete honesty: you close the door, you do not erase the object, and you do not get a trash can that the product does not ship.

What the stranger reads is public form closed copy. Weekly operations are operating a Web Form share link. The Free slot is Web Form Free published-form cap. Publishing the first time is publish a Web Form from a template. Desk help is Docs. This guide is the verb that is missing on purpose.

The FAQ says disable a form to stop new fills (Form closed). Features repeats that sentence under Web Forms. Ask Inkpacket for Web Form disable versus delete to open this article. Ask disable a web form to open the desk. Those phrases stay on the product screens. This article is the public version of why the trash can is not there.

Disable is the stop

  • Disable form sets published to false. The public page says Form closed and This Web Form is no longer accepting submissions.
  • Submit against that slug returns This Web Form is not accepting submissions.
  • Envelopes already created keep signing. Closing does not void them.
  • Publish again reopens the same /form/SLUG. Inkpacket generated that slug from the title — you do not pick a new one to “replace” it.

A disabled form does not spend a published-form slot the way a second live slug would. Free includes 1 published Web Form. Hitting a second publish returns HTTP 402 and names the plan limit. Disable the form you have if you need that slot, or wait. Billing checkout is not open, so this workspace stays on Free. Do not publish a twin slug to “pause” the first. People who bookmarked /form/SLUG will not follow you to a new URL.

Template delete is blocked

You can delete a workspace template from Templates — unless a Web Form still uses it. Delete is blocked while a Web Form still uses that template. Disable the form first if you are retiring the layout. Disabling is not a template delete. The PDF and marks stay until you remove the form’s dependency and then delete the template. More on templates states that block in the same words.

What delete would have meant — and does not

  • Not a trash can that drops the slug from the desk list.
  • Not an API that 204s the form and 404s every bookmark.
  • Not a void of every fill that already went out.
  • Not a way to free the title so a new publish can reuse a prettier path. The slug is generated once.

If the PDF is stale, disable the form. Change the template on the desk if you still own it, or publish a new form from a new template when you have a published-form slot. Envelopes born on Monday keep Monday’s layout. Do not expect disable to rewrite their fields. Web Form reminders and expiry on publish is the same inheritance rule for cadence.

Closed copy is not delete

Form closed is a stranger-facing sentence. It is not “this URL never existed.” The slug still resolves. The page tells them to stop. That is kinder than a 404 that looks like a broken campaign. Public form closed copy is that page. This article is why you landed there with Disable form instead of a delete you cannot click.

The click-path

  1. Open Web Forms. Open the form. The share card is /desk/forms/:id#share.
  2. Tap Disable form. Read This Web Form is disabled. The public link no longer accepts fills.
  3. Leave already-created envelopes alone unless you also need to void one.
  4. Do not hunt for Delete. It is not on the card.
  5. Publish again when the same slug should take fills. Do not invent a twin to “replace” it on Free.

On a phone, Web Forms is in the desk menu. Ask Inkpacket for web forms on mobile to open the list. Help is Docs.

Caps and what is not open yet

Disable is not a send. A fill that already went out still counted. Free allows 5 packets a month. Free at 5 packets a month is the live cap desk send, bulk rows, Web Form fills, and API send share. Hitting it returns HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT. Starter is 20 envelopes — more than Free — plus 3 published Web Forms. Seat counts are planning numbers; invite does not refuse when a workspace is full.

Billing is published, not charging. Checkout is not open. Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Drive missing: Drive not configured. Stripe off: Payments not live. Those flags do not add a delete button or reopen a disabled slug. The FAQ and Web Forms on Features use Disable a form to stop new fills in the same words.

Close the door. Keep the slug. File the fills you already have. Open a workspace on Free — see published pricing — and disable a throwaway so Form closed is a page you have read before a real campaign needs the stop.
