Why there is no template-count cap

Inkpacket has no separate template-count cap. Saving another layout is not a plan unlock. That is template-count honesty — not HTTP 402, not checkout.

A workspace template is a PDF plus the field marks you placed on it. Create at /desk/templates/new, edit at /desk/templates/:id, and list or start envelopes at /desk/templates. Save as many layouts as the team needs. There is no separate template-count cap in this pass. That is template-count honesty: a twelfth vendor form is still a save, Starter does not sell “more templates,” and opening Billing will not invent a template ceiling the desk does not enforce.

Eighty marks on one layout is the other number — why a template stops at 80 fields. Saving still does not count — why saving a template is not an envelope. Delete stays blocked while a Web Form uses that id — why you cannot delete a template a Web Form still uses. Desk help is Docs. This guide is why the template list does not stop at ten, and why that missing stop is not a leaked send cap.

The FAQ and reusable templates on Features keep the layout inside the workspace. Ask Inkpacket for why there is no template-count cap to open this article. Ask how templates work to open help. Those phrases stay on the product screens. This article is the public version of There is no separate template-count cap in this pass — the string help already uses next to Save.

What no count covers

  • Save another layout. The list grows. There is no HTTP 402 for “too many templates.”
  • Eighty fields is per template. A second template is a new eighty, not a second envelope.
  • Members of another organization cannot see or start envelopes from these layouts.
  • Delete is blocked while a Web Form still uses that template. That block is not a count cap.

Saving a layout is not a send. Sending a draft started from that layout is. Free allows 5 packets a month. A ninth save does not return HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT. Use template copies the PDF and those marks — type, page, position, size, label, required, recipient slot, and select options — into a new draft. You pick signers and send from that draft. That is different from Documents → new, which uploads a PDF and starts with no marks. A zero-field template still cannot publish a Web Form.

What this is not

  • Not A template accepts 80 fields. Eighty is marks on one layout. This article is how many layouts.
  • Not a published Web Form cap. Free includes 1 published Web Form. That gate is forms, not templates.
  • Not a blocked delete. Trash stays off while a slug still points at that id.
  • Not checkout. Billing is not open. Paying a listed price does not invent a template quota.

Place signature, date, text, initials, checkbox, and select marks. Assign a recipient slot (1–20). Select fields need at least two comma-separated options. Coordinates are stored as page percentages. Reminders go out by email today. Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Email still soft-fails on the send, not on Save. Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Drive archive waits for completed. Stripe off: Payments not live. None of those flags start counting templates toward fifty.

The click-path

  1. Open Templates → new. Upload a PDF. Place marks. Save. Repeat for the next form.
  2. If you expected a “too many templates” error, you will not get one. Do not open Billing for a quota.
  3. Use template when the next envelope should copy that layout. Send still counts.
  4. If send returns HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT, that is the monthly cap, not a template count.
  5. On a phone, Templates is a drawer row. There is still no template-count cap. Help is not a drawer row — it stays in the header.

A template with zero fields still cannot publish — why a template with zero fields cannot publish. Who each mark belongs to is assign fields to each signer on one envelope. Ask Inkpacket for why there is no template-count cap to open this article. Ask how templates work to open help. Ask templates to open the list.

Ask and the list

Ask Inkpacket for why there is no template-count cap to open this article. Ask how templates work to open help. Marketing Ask stays site Q&A and deep links. It will not save a twelfth layout, invent a quota, or send a draft from this article. The list can grow. The monthly cap still waits for Send.

Caps and what is not open yet

Saving another template is not a send. Send of a draft started from a template is. Free allows 5 packets a month. Free at 5 packets a month is the live cap desk send, bulk rows, Web Form fills, and API send share. Hitting it returns HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT. Starter is 20 envelopes — more than Free — plus 3 published Web Forms. Seat counts are planning numbers; invite does not refuse when a workspace is full.

Billing is published, not charging. Checkout is not open. Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Drive missing: Drive not configured. Stripe off: Payments not live. Those flags do not invent a template-count cap or hide Save. The FAQ and More on templates use There is no separate template-count cap in this pass in the same words.

Save the next layout. Then send. Open a workspace on Free — see published pricing — and store a throwaway second template so template-count honesty is a missing quota you already looked for, not a checkout you opened for “more templates” this pass does not ship.
