Why a template stops at 80 fields

An Inkpacket template accepts 80 fields. An 81st mark is not a second envelope and not a plan unlock. That is field-cap honesty — not HTTP 402, not checkout.

A workspace template is a PDF plus the field marks you placed on it. Place signature, date, text, initials, checkbox, and select marks, assign a recipient slot (1–20), then save. A template accepts 80 fields. An 81st mark is not a second envelope, not a Free-plan tease, and not a Settings toggle. That is field-cap honesty: eighty marks is the layout, Starter does not sell “more fields on one template,” and opening Billing will not raise the tool.

The type list is template field types overview. Saving the layout is not a send — why saving a template is not an envelope. Who each mark belongs to is assign fields to each signer on one envelope. Desk help is Docs. This guide is why the field tool stops at eighty, and why that stop is not ENVELOPE_LIMIT.

The FAQ and reusable templates on Features keep the layout inside the workspace. Ask Inkpacket for why a template stops at 80 fields to open this article. Ask how templates work to open help. Those phrases stay on the product screens. This article is the public version of A template accepts 80 fields — the string the desk already uses when the eighty-first mark has nowhere to go.

What eighty covers

  • Up to 80 marks on one saved layout. Signature, date, text, initials, checkbox, and select share that count.
  • Recipient slots stay 1–20. Eighty fields are not twenty envelopes and not twenty templates.
  • Use template copies those marks into a new draft. The draft is still not a send.
  • A Web Form fill still creates one sent envelope from that layout, no matter how many of the eighty marks the filler completes on the public page.

Need an 81st mark? Split the work. Save a second template, or send a second envelope from a second layout. That second send counts. Free allows 5 packets a month. Free at 5 packets a month is the live cap desk send, bulk rows, Web Form fills, and API send share. Hitting it returns HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT. The field cap is a different no — you still have envelopes left, you just cannot put eighty-one marks on this template id. Saving the first layout never counted. Placing the 81st mark does not return 402. Do not open Billing to “buy more fields.”

What this is not

  • Not HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT. That is the monthly send cap after you use the template and send.
  • Not the published-form 402. That 402 is a second live slug on Free. This stop is “eighty marks already sit here.”
  • Not the 20-recipient list. An envelope accepts up to 20 recipients. Fields and recipients are different ceilings.
  • Not checkout. Billing is not open. Paying a listed price does not add an 81st mark.

Select fields need at least two comma-separated options. Checkboxes stamp an X when checked. Coordinates are stored as page percentages. Suggest starting layout places a signature, initials, and date for each recipient on the last page — that is a starting layout from page count and recipient count, not a model read, and those starter marks still count toward eighty. Reminders go out by email today. Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Email still soft-fails on the send, not on Save. Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Drive archive waits for completed. Stripe off: Payments not live. None of those flags raise the field tool.

The click-path

  1. Open Templates → new, or edit an existing layout. Place up to 80 marks. Save.
  2. If you need more marks, start a second template. Do not open Billing for an 81st field.
  3. Use template when you are ready to send. Confirm the monthly counter moves on Send, not on Save.
  4. If send returns HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT, that is the monthly cap, not the field list.
  5. On a phone, Templates is a drawer row. The field tool still stops at eighty. Help is not a drawer row — it stays in the header.

A blank layout cannot publish — why a template with zero fields cannot publish. Zero is the other end of the same tool. Eighty is the top. Delete is blocked while a Web Form still uses that template. A blocked delete is not a field-cap refusal. Ask Inkpacket for why a template stops at 80 fields to open this article. Ask how templates work to open help.

Ask and the tool

Ask Inkpacket for why a template stops at 80 fields to open this article. Ask how templates work to open help. Ask how field types work to open the field section. Marketing Ask stays site Q&A and deep links. It will not place an 81st mark or split the layout from this article. Eighty is the list. A second template is the overflow.

Caps and what is not open yet

Placing an 81st mark is not a send. Send of a draft that used the template is. Free allows 5 packets a month. Free at 5 packets a month is the live cap desk send, bulk rows, Web Form fills, and API send share. Hitting it returns HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT. Starter is 20 envelopes — more than Free — plus 3 published Web Forms. Seat counts are planning numbers; invite does not refuse when a workspace is full.

Billing is published, not charging. Checkout is not open. Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Drive missing: Drive not configured. Stripe off: Payments not live. Those flags do not add an 81st mark or hide the tool. The FAQ and More on templates use A template accepts 80 fields in the same words.

Stay at eighty on this layout. Save a second template if you must. Open a workspace on Free — see published pricing — and try to place an 81st throwaway mark so field-cap honesty is a stopped tool you already saw, not a Starter checkout you hoped would grow the row.
