Resend does not rotate the signing token
Inkpacket Resend emails the existing signing link. The token stays. Only an email-change correct retires it. That is same-token-resend honesty — not a new envelope, not a new URL.
Envelope admin Resend emails the existing signing link to outstanding signer(s) again. The envelope stays. The signer stays. The token stays. That is same-token-resend honesty: a second mail is not a new URL, and clicking Resend twice does not mint a twin envelope or retire the first link. If someone forwarded the original message, that same token still works. If you needed the old inbox to die, you wanted correct with a new email — not this button.
Retrying mail after a skip is resend after a soft-fail email. When the inbox itself is wrong, email change retires the signing token. Copying the URL when mail never left is copy the signing link after mail skips. Desk help is Docs. This guide is why Resend is not a rotate.
The FAQ says resend emails the existing link without creating a second envelope. Features names the same verb under envelope admin. Ask Inkpacket for resend does not rotate the signing token to open this article. Ask how to resend to open help. Those phrases stay on the product screens. This article is the public version of why the copy box after Resend should match the copy box after the first send.
What stays the same
- Envelope id. The monthly envelope already counted on the original send.
- Signing token. /sign/TOKEN and /embed/sign/TOKEN stay the same strings.
- Access code. The PIN hash does not rotate. Share it separately — it is still not in the invite email.
- Outstanding people. Resend talks to signers who already have a live invite, not later sequential orders who have not been invited yet.
Open the sent document at /desk/documents/:id. Envelope admin Resend signing email is the control. Public API: POST /api/v1/packets/:id/resend. Only SENT envelopes show it. Completed envelopes cannot be changed. Expired and declined envelopes cannot be resent either. A draft is not mid-flight — send it first.
What Resend is not
- Not a correct. If the address is a typo, change the email. That retires the previous token.
- Not a reminder job. A reminder is the scheduled nudge on the cadence you set at send. Resend is a manual “send it again now.”
- Not a void. The old link stays live. Do not resend hoping the first URL will die.
- Not a skip to the next sequential order. There is no skip.
Later sequential signers who have not been invited yet do not get this mail. Reminders skip them too — reminders skip uninvited sequential signers. If you resend while the first order is still outstanding, you nudge that order again. You do not pull the next person forward.
Mail, SMS, and the copy box
If Resend is configured, the outstanding signer gets the same link again. If it is not, or if the provider rejects the recipient, the desk still shows the signing URL and says Invite email was not sent — copy the link and share it. That skip is the same soft-fail as the first invite — Docs. Copy the URL. Do not invent a second draft “so mail will work this time.”
Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Reminders go out by email today. Copy the signing link. A phone-only correct does not retire the token. Resend is the mail-shaped twin of that retry, not a new token mint. Drive archive still waits for completed. Stripe off: Payments not live. None of those flags rotate the link.
The click-path
- Open the sent document. Confirm the address is right before you click Resend.
- If the inbox is wrong, Correct recipient and change the email. Treat the old token as dead.
- If the inbox is right and they never saw the mail, Resend. Expect the same URL.
- If mail skips again, copy the signing link. Do not paste a URL you saved from last week unless you just checked the desk.
- Do not open Billing to “buy a new token.” Checkout is not open and does not rotate links.

Caps and what is not open yet
Resend is not a send. The send that created the envelope already counted. Free allows 5 packets a month. Free at 5 packets a month is the live cap desk send, bulk rows, Web Form fills, and API send share. Hitting it returns HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT. Starter is 20 envelopes — more than Free — plus 3 published Web Forms. Seat counts are planning numbers; invite does not refuse when a workspace is full.
Billing is published, not charging. Checkout is not open. Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Drive missing: Drive not configured. Stripe off: Payments not live. Those flags do not rotate a token or mint a twin envelope. The FAQ and More on voiding, correcting and resending use email the same signing link and Resend is idempotent in the same words.
Click Resend when the address is right. Keep the token. File the envelope when they finish on that same URL. Open a workspace on Free — see published pricing — and resend one throwaway so same-token-resend honesty is a URL that did not change, not a second envelope you filed because the first mail felt stale.
