Bulk send Free envelope math
Each unique Inkpacket bulk-send row is one envelope toward Free’s 5. Preview the count. A row that would exceed it returns HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT. Starter is 20 — more than Free. That is list-math honesty.
A bulk job looks cheap until you multiply. Each unique email that actually sends is one envelope. Free allows 5 packets a month. Free at 5 packets a month is the live cap this job shares with desk send, Web Form fills, and API send. A 40-row list of new addresses is 40 envelopes. A 60-row list is not “the rest next month automatically.” The row that would exceed the cap returns HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT — the same send cap as a single send. That is list-math honesty: preview the unique-address count before you start, or the job will stop mid-list and the month is still spent on the rows that went out.
How to run the job is bulk send for HR and sales envelopes. Mapping columns is bulk send CSV column mapping. When a public slug is the better door is bulk send vs Web Forms. The shared counter is the Free plan 5-packet cap and what counts as an envelope. Desk help is Docs. This guide is the arithmetic on a list.
Pricing lists the same 5. The FAQ says each sent row counts. Ask Inkpacket for bulk send Free envelope math to open this article. Ask how bulk send works to open help. Those phrases stay on the product screens. This article is the public version of why a 100-row paste is not a Free-plan plan.
The count before you start
- A job accepts 100 unique emails. That ceiling is the paste box, not the monthly cap.
- Duplicate emails in the list are sent once. Retries skip rows that already sent.
- Each unique address that goes out spends one envelope.
- A sent row means the envelope exists — even when invite email was not sent.
Open Bulk send at /desk/bulk. Pick a workspace template. Paste or upload names and emails. Map the columns. Read the preview. If the unique count is 48 and you already sent 10 this month, do not start. Split the cohort. Wait for the next UTC month. Do not hope the last eight rows “queue.” They 402.
If start fails after create, the desk says Job created, but sending did not finish. Open that job and retry. Retries skip rows that already sent. They do not invent a second envelope for a row that already has an envelope. They also do not waive ENVELOPE_LIMIT for a row that still would exceed the month.
What a row is not
- Not two envelopes because the PDF has two signature marks.
- Not a seat. The recipient does not join Team.
- Not a Web Form fill. The list is outbound. A slug is inbound.
- Not a second send when you retry the job.
One envelope with several signers is a different tool. Bulk send creates one recipient per row. Sequential or parallel routing lives on an envelope you start with names in hand — send one envelope to multiple signers. Do not paste a list hoping later countersigners appear on the same envelope.
Free 5 is the live cap
Starter is 20 envelopes — more than Free — plus 3 published Web Forms. A list that outgrows Free still fits Starter. Do not pick Starter because a CSV felt “professional.” Starter grants extra published forms and more monthly envelopes than Free. Checkout is not open, so this workspace stays on Free’s 5. Free vs Starter envelope math is that subtraction.
Seat counts are planning numbers; invite does not refuse when a workspace is full. Adding an operator does not buy 5 more rows. The people on Team share one monthly counter. Planning team seats is that ceiling.
Mail skip still counted
When Resend is missing, a sent row still created the envelope. Open that document and copy the signing link. Do not start the job again to “retry email.” That retry skips the row. The skip you want is Envelope admin Resend on that envelope — resend after a soft-fail email. The envelope already counted.
Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. A later resend goes out by email today. That flag does not refund the row. Drive archive still waits for a completed envelope. Stripe off: Payments not live. None of those flags raise the 5.
The click-path
- Save a template with the field layout. Bulk send will not place marks for you.
- Open /desk/bulk. Paste or upload. Map name and email. Read the unique count.
- Subtract that count from the envelopes you have left this UTC month.
- Start only if the remainder is not negative. Otherwise split the list.
- If a row 402s, leave the sent envelopes alone. Wait for the next UTC month.
Ask Inkpacket for send from csv to open Bulk send. Ask how bulk send works for help. Those phrases stay on the product screens. This article is the public version of the preview number.
The month is UTC
Send opens again at the start of the next UTC month. A late-evening job on the last local day may already be next month on the counter — or still this month. Do not clone the remaining rows at 11:50 p.m. hoping the 402 will vanish. Wait, or stay on the envelopes you already have. Void, correct, and resend still run on those ids.
Caps and what is not open yet
Free allows 5 packets a month. Free at 5 packets a month is the live cap desk send, bulk rows, Web Form fills, and API send share. Hitting it returns HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT. Starter is 20 envelopes — more than Free — plus 3 published Web Forms. Seat counts are planning numbers; invite does not refuse when a workspace is full.
Billing is published, not charging. Checkout is not open. Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Drive missing: Drive not configured. Stripe off: Payments not live. Those flags do not turn a 40-row list into a freebie. The FAQ and bulk send on Features use unique email and ENVELOPE_LIMIT in the same words.
Preview the count. Start only the rows you can finish this month. File each completed envelope from its own envelope — the job was only the fan-out. Open a workspace on Free — see published pricing — and run a two-row throwaway so the preview number is something you have watched before a real cohort depends on it.
