Planning team seats on Inkpacket

Inkpacket seat counts are planning numbers: Free 1, Starter 3, Growth 10, Agency 50. Invite does not refuse when a workspace is full. Monthly envelopes and published Web Forms are the live gates.

Pricing publishes a seat number on every lane. That number is a plan, not a lock. Invite does not refuse when a workspace is full. There is no seat-cap HTTP status, no HTTP 402 for an extra teammate, and no live checkout that would enforce the ceiling. Owners and admins still invite from Team. Members can send envelopes. They cannot invite.

Desk help is Docs. The published note on Pricing is the same sentence: seat counts are planning numbers. The live gates are monthly envelopes and published Web Forms — the Free plan 5-packet cap. This guide is how to plan the roster anyway, without pretending invite will bounce.

The published numbers

  • Free — 1 published seat (planning).
  • Starter — 3 published seats (planning).
  • Growth — 10 published seats (planning).
  • Agency — 50 published seats (planning).

Use those figures to decide who should live in the desk: one operator on Free, a small sending group on Starter, a fuller ops roster on Growth or Agency. Do not wait for an invite error that this pass will not throw. If two people need to send today, invite both. The envelope cap still applies to every send they share.

Who can invite

Owner and admin open Team at /desk/team and create an invite. A team invite creates the row and returns inviteUrl, emailSent, and emailError. Inkpacket emails the link when Resend is configured; copy it if mail is not live. That is the same honest skip as a signing invite — Invite email was not sent. The teammate still has a URL.

What a seat is not

  • Not a live refuse. Invite does not check the published ceiling.
  • Not an envelope. Adding a person does not spend the monthly send cap.
  • Not a Web Form. Publishing a public slug is a different gate.
  • Not a signer account. Recipients finish on a tokenized link without joining the workspace.

Roles stay ordinary: owners create the workspace, admins invite, members send. Another organization cannot see your Team list. On a phone, Team is in the desk menu — hamburger drawer.

Plan the roster against real work

Count people who will open Documents, Templates, Bulk send, or Forms — not everyone who might someday look at a completed PDF. Completed files download from the envelope. You do not need a seat to be a signer. You need a seat to operate the desk.

If one person sends and the rest only sign, Free’s published single seat matches that shape. If three operators share templates and a bulk list, Starter’s published 3 is the planning picture — even though invite will still accept a fourth in this pass. Write the roster you intend to keep, not the one checkout will accidentally allow. A contractor who only receives signing links does not need a row on Team.

On a phone, open the desk menu to reach Team — it is not a separate app. Ask Inkpacket for invite teammate to jump to the form, or how seats work to open this help section. The invite URL is the product when mail is missing. Do not create a second workspace just to dodge a seat number that invite will not enforce.

Billing does not enforce it

Billing is published, not charging. Checkout is not open. Workspaces start on Free. Changing the published lane on a brochure does not flip a seat lock. Choosing a plan is the envelope and Web Form story. Keep seats in the planning column until charging exists.

When the seat email soft-fails

A teammate invite is not a signing invite, but it uses the same mail skip. Without Resend the row still exists. Copy inviteUrl. Do not open a second organization because the first invite logged emailError. That would split templates, envelopes, and the monthly envelope count you actually share.

Members who already joined keep sending while you add the next person. Removing someone later is a Team action, not an envelope void. Their outstanding envelopes stay on the workspace until you void or they finish.

Caps and what is not open yet

Free allows 5 packets a month. Free at 5 packets a month is the live send cap. Starter is 20 envelopes — more than Free — plus 3 published Web Forms. Hitting the send cap returns HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT. That is the gate that actually fires. Seat invite does not.

Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Drive missing: Drive not configured. Stripe off: Payments not live. None of those flags block Team. If Resend is missing, copy the invite URL. The FAQ and billing help repeat the planning-numbers sentence.

Invite the people who will send. Treat the published seat figure as a target, not a lock. Watch the envelope cap — that one is live. A seat invite that logs emailError is still a seat you intended; copy the URL. Open a workspace on Free, or sign in and open Team. Published pricing lists every planning seat next to the live 5.

Open a workspace on Free

Billing is published, not charging. Send an envelope from the desk without a card.
