Why This envelope can no longer be sent is not an envelope limit

Inkpacket returns This envelope can no longer be sent when send hits an expired, voided, or declined envelope. That is send-lock honesty — not HTTP 402, not checkout.

POST /api/v1/packets/:id/send — and the desk send form — refuse an expired, voided, or declined envelope with This envelope can no longer be sent. A completed envelope returns a different string: This document is already completed. A draft is the envelope you still send. That is send-lock honesty: a closed id does not go out again, the monthly cap is a different 402, and opening Billing will not “re-send a voided envelope.”

Why expiry is not a cancel is expired is not voided. Why one decline closes the envelope is decline closes the envelope. Why a second void names the status is why This envelope is already voided is not a completed lock. Desk help is Docs. This guide is why send names a closed envelope, and why that name is not the monthly envelope cap.

The FAQ and signing link on Features start from a draft you actually send. Ask Inkpacket for why This envelope can no longer be sent is not an envelope limit to open this article. Ask how the API works to open help. Those phrases stay on the product screens. This article is the public version of This envelope can no longer be sent — the string help already uses next to send.

What send lock covers

  • Send on an expired envelope. This envelope can no longer be sent.
  • Send on a voided envelope. The first void already killed the links.
  • Send on a declined envelope. One decline already closed the whole id.
  • Completed uses This document is already completed. That is a filed copy, not this 409.

Reading This envelope can no longer be sent is not a send. The original send already counted if the envelope ever left draft. Free allows 5 packets a month. A refused second send does not return HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT. Place at least one field before sending is a draft with zero marks. Signer name and email are required is a missing recipient. Each recipient needs a unique email is a repeated address on one envelope. Those strings are other doors. Send lock is the closed status.

What this is not

  • Not HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT. That is the monthly cap on a legal send.
  • Not This document is already completed. That filed PDF stays filed.
  • Not Only sent envelopes can use this action. That string is void, correct, or resend on a draft.
  • Not checkout. Billing is not open. Paying a listed price does not re-open a closed send.

If the work still needs a signature, send a new envelope from the PDF or template. Do not POST send again on the closed id. Reminders go out by email today. Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Email still soft-fails on that new send. Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Drive archive waits for completed. Stripe off: Payments not live. None of those flags un-void, un-expire, or un-decline the first id or hide This envelope can no longer be sent.

The click-path

  1. Send a draft that has marks and a unique recipient list.
  2. If send returns This envelope can no longer be sent, read the status. Do not open Billing for a re-send.
  3. Voided, expired, and declined stay closed. Copy a new envelope if the work still matters.
  4. If send returns HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT, that is the monthly cap, not this lock.
  5. On a phone, Documents is a drawer row. The 409 copy is the same. Help is not a drawer row — it stays in the header.

The five-minute path is how to send a document for signature in under five minutes. What counts toward fifty is what counts as an envelope. Ask Inkpacket for why This envelope can no longer be sent is not an envelope limit to open this article. Ask how the API works to open help. Ask send an envelope to open Documents → new.
