Why Suggest starting layout does not read the PDF

Inkpacket Suggest starting layout places a signature, initials, and date from page count and recipient count. It does not read the PDF or guess labels with a model. That is suggest-layout honesty — not a missing AI setting.

After you upload a PDF on Documents → new, the field tool places signature, date, text, initials, checkbox, and select marks — Documents → new #fields. Suggest starting layout places a signature, initials, and date for each recipient on the last page. That is a starting layout from page count and recipient count — Inkpacket does not read the PDF or guess labels with a model. That is suggest-layout honesty: the button is arithmetic, opening Billing will not “turn on a reader,” and a missing model key is not why the marks sat on the last page.

How to place marks by hand is how to place signature fields on a PDF. The type list is template field types overview. Who each mark belongs to is assign fields to each signer on one envelope. Desk help is Docs. This guide is why Suggest starting layout ignored the printed “Sign here,” and why that is the product — not a failed upload.

The FAQ and field placement on Features name the six types. Ask Inkpacket for why Suggest starting layout does not read the PDF to open this article. Ask how field types work to open help. Those phrases stay on the product screens. This article is the public version of Starting layout from page count and recipient count. Inkpacket does not read the PDF or guess labels with a model — the string the desk already shows next to that button.

What the button uses

  • Page count. Marks land on the last page, not on a detected signature line.
  • Recipient count. Each recipient slot gets a signature, initials, and date.
  • No label guess. The printed words on the PDF are not read.
  • No model. There is no setting that “enables AI placement.”

Drag the marks after the button runs. Assign a recipient slot. Select fields need at least two comma-separated options. Checkboxes stamp an X when checked. A template accepts 80 fields — starter marks count toward that ceiling when you save the layout. Sending the draft counts. Free allows 5 packets a month. Suggest starting layout is not a send. It does not increment the monthly cap. It does not return HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT. A rejected upload never reaches the button — empty, non-PDF, unreadable, or over 15 MB files are refused first.

What this is not

  • Not a failed read. The PDF loaded. The button never promised to parse it.
  • Not a missing OPENAI_API_KEY on Ask. Ask answers site copy. It does not place fields.
  • Not checkout. Billing is not open. Paying a listed price does not add a PDF reader.
  • Not storage down. File storage is unavailable is an unreachable bucket after a file was accepted.

If the last page is the wrong page, move the marks. If a recipient needs a text box on page 2, place it. The button will not find “Name” or “Date” in the scan. Reminders go out by email today. Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Email still soft-fails on the send, not on Suggest. Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Drive archive waits for completed. Stripe off: Payments not live. None of those flags teach the button to read the file.

The click-path

  1. Upload a real PDF. Open the field tool. Use Suggest starting layout if you want a last-page starter.
  2. Move, add, or delete marks so they match the paper. Do not open Settings for a reader.
  3. Assign each mark to a recipient slot. Send when the layout is yours.
  4. If you wanted the printed line detected, place the mark yourself. That is the product.
  5. On a phone, Documents is a drawer row. The field tool is still on the envelope. Help is not a drawer row — it stays in the header.

Saving those marks as a template still does not count — why saving a template is not an envelope. A rejected picker never opened the tool — why a rejected PDF upload is not an envelope. Ask Inkpacket for why Suggest starting layout does not read the PDF to open this article. Ask how field types work to open help. Ask place fields to open the send form.

Ask and the button

Ask Inkpacket for why Suggest starting layout does not read the PDF to open this article. Ask how field types work to open help. Marketing Ask stays site Q&A and deep links. It will not place marks, read the PDF, or invent labels from this article. Page count and recipient count are the inputs. Your drag is the rest.

Caps and what is not open yet

Clicking Suggest starting layout is not a send. Send is. Free allows 5 packets a month. Free at 5 packets a month is the live cap desk send, bulk rows, Web Form fills, and API send share. Hitting it returns HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT. Starter is 20 envelopes — more than Free — plus 3 published Web Forms. Seat counts are planning numbers; invite does not refuse when a workspace is full.

Billing is published, not charging. Checkout is not open. Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Drive missing: Drive not configured. Stripe off: Payments not live. Those flags do not add a PDF reader or hide the button. The FAQ and FAQ use Inkpacket does not read the PDF or guess labels with a model in the same words.

Use the starter. Then move the marks. Open a workspace on Free — see published pricing — and click Suggest starting layout on a throwaway multi-page PDF so suggest-layout honesty is last-page marks you already dragged, not a Settings hunt for a model that does not place fields.
