Why a PDF has no page-count cap

An Inkpacket PDF needs at least one readable page. There is no separate page-count cap. Extra pages are not a plan unlock. That is page-count honesty — not HTTP 402, not checkout.

Upload a PDF from Documents → new, or from Templates → new. Inkpacket accepts application/pdf or a .pdf filename. The file must be 15 MB or smaller. A PDF needs at least one readable page. There is no separate page-count cap. That is page-count honesty: twenty pages is still one file, Starter does not sell “more pages on one upload,” and opening Billing will not raise a page ceiling this pass does not ship.

The four picker refusals are why a rejected PDF upload is not an envelope. Why an unreachable bucket is a later no is why File storage is unavailable is not a rejected upload. Where a good file lands is where uploaded PDFs are stored. Desk help is Docs. This guide is why page count is not a gate, and why that missing gate is not a failed upload.

The FAQ and Features start from a PDF. Ask Inkpacket for why a PDF has no page-count cap to open this article. Ask how file storage works to open help. Those phrases stay on the product screens. This article is the public version of There is no separate page-count cap — the string help already uses next to the one-readable-page floor.

What page count covers

  • At least one readable page. A file with no pages fails This file could not be read as a PDF.
  • No upper page gate. A long vendor pack and a one-page NDA use the same picker.
  • Size is the other ceiling. PDF must be 15 MB or smaller. Pages do not raise that limit.
  • Suggest starting layout still uses page count as arithmetic. It places starter marks on the last page. That is not a page cap.

Uploading a readable multi-page PDF is not a send. Sending the draft that used that file is. Free allows 5 packets a month. A twenty-page upload does not return HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT. Empty uploads return Upload a PDF file. Non-PDFs return Only PDF files are accepted. Unreadable bytes return This file could not be read as a PDF. Oversized files return PDF must be 15 MB or smaller. Those four strings are picker refusals. They never count. File storage is unavailable is the later store miss after a file was already accepted.

What this is not

  • Not a rejected empty picker. Upload a PDF file is zero bytes at the door.
  • Not File storage is unavailable. That string is an unreachable bucket after accept.
  • Not A template accepts 80 fields. Eighty is marks. Pages are the file.
  • Not checkout. Billing is not open. Paying a listed price does not invent a page gate.

Settings shows S3-compatible when S3_BUCKET, S3_ACCESS_KEY_ID, and S3_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY are set; optional S3_ENDPOINT points at R2 or another S3-compatible host. Otherwise Local fallback — uploads still work. GET /api/v1/health reports storage.configured and storage.backend. Health staying 200 does not add a page ceiling. Reminders go out by email today. Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Email still soft-fails on the send, not on the page count. Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Drive archive waits for completed. Stripe off: Payments not live. None of those flags count pages toward the monthly cap.

The click-path

  1. Upload a real PDF with at least one readable page, at or under 15 MB.
  2. If the picker names empty, non-PDF, unreadable, or oversize, fix the file. Do not open Billing for pages.
  3. Place fields. Suggest starting layout still drops starter marks on the last page — that is arithmetic, not a cap.
  4. If send returns HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT, that is the monthly cap, not a page count.
  5. On a phone, Documents is a drawer row. There is still no page-count cap. Help is not a drawer row — it stays in the header.

The starter button is why Suggest starting layout does not read the PDF. Saving those marks still does not count — why saving a template is not an envelope. Ask Inkpacket for why a PDF has no page-count cap to open this article. Ask how file storage works to open help. Ask upload a pdf to open Documents → new.

Ask and the pages

Ask Inkpacket for why a PDF has no page-count cap to open this article. Ask how file storage works or what does file storage unavailable mean to open help. Marketing Ask stays site Q&A and deep links. It will not count pages, split a PDF, or increment the monthly cap from this article. One readable page is the floor. Fifteen megabytes is the size door. There is no page gate.

Caps and what is not open yet

Uploading a long PDF is not a send. Send of a draft that stored that file is. Free allows 5 packets a month. Free at 5 packets a month is the live cap desk send, bulk rows, Web Form fills, and API send share. Hitting it returns HTTP 402 ENVELOPE_LIMIT. Starter is 20 envelopes — more than Free — plus 3 published Web Forms. Seat counts are planning numbers; invite does not refuse when a workspace is full.

Billing is published, not charging. Checkout is not open. Text-message (SMS) is coming soon. Drive missing: Drive not configured. Stripe off: Payments not live. Those flags do not invent a page-count cap or hide the one-readable-page floor. The FAQ and FAQ use There is no separate page-count cap in the same words.

Upload the whole pack. Then send. Open a workspace on Free — see published pricing — and drop a throwaway multi-page PDF so page-count honesty is a missing gate you already looked for, not a checkout you opened for “more pages” this pass does not ship.
